JAMES ELLERBY

With over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, spanning both sides of the Atlantic, James Ellerby has worked for independent, national and international companies within the hotel, restaurant and bar sectors. He has held senior management positions within well-established brands and has experience in multiple-site management. James established his own hospitality management consultancy and training business in 2010 and has worked with a wide variety of clients across a range of industries and within multiple countries.
As a Sheffield Hallam University alumnus, James returned to the university in 2014 as a senior lecturer, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate hospitality business management courses. His primary teaching is focused on food and beverage operations, food, drink and society, supply chain management and strategic management. James has a degree in hotel and catering management, and a master’s degree in organizational development and consultancy. His research interests are focused on leadership and entrepreneurship. He is currently working towards completing his PhD, focused on the factors which influence success and failure in independent restaurants
