MONEEZA HASHMI
Born in 1946 to Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Alys Faiz, Moneeza Hashmi had her schooling in Lahore from Kinnaird College and Punjab University before obtaining a Masters degree in Education from the University of Hawaii in 1981.
Wearing several prominent and professional hats, she was President Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (later Public Media Alliance) for 3 terms, General Manager International Relations HUM TV, Director Programmes Pakistan TV and at present Creative and Media Head of KASHF Foundation a women organization working on giving micro credit to women all over Pakistan. She has also produced special documentaries for UNICEF, UNESCO, GTZ, Aga Khan University, UNFPA, Allama Iqbal Open University, and ActionAid Pakistan.
Moneeza Hashmi was the Master Trainer for the workshop series for the Institute of Information and Education, San Francisco, USA, titled ‘Gender, media and reproductive health’; advocacy of strategies for action which were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Recipient of various national and international awards, one of the most prestigious one that she has received is the President of Pakistan’s Pride of Performance Award 2002 for contribution in portrayal of women in electronic media of Pakistan
