JAN VERDUYN
JAN VERDUYN
There can be no doubt that Jan Verduyn belongs to the generation of top hotel managers trained at the demanding but extremely effective school of managers who have moved around the world having climbed all the ranks of the hotel business. Because this dynamic native of Belgium has covered every aspect of the profession. He began as a simple warehouseman and then went through the entire hotel system: cash register, restaurant, purchasing, Food & Beverage controller, Analyst and Director at various departments. In short, he has done the entire course.
While he was still very young, he had no hesitation in going abroad to learn. He worked in Perros-Guirec, in Brittany, London and Paris, and he soon began to rise through the ranks of one of the largest hotel chains in the world, Hilton. With all the appointments and grades he obtained, Jan Verduyn collected an astonishing amount of professional ‘luggage’ by settling down for varying periods, with his wife and their two children, in countries as widely differing as Sudan, Cameroon, Sri Lanka and Vietnam!
He is a tireless globetrotter in his own sphere, fascinated by all his experiences in every part of the world. From Khartoum, he was sent to Nigeria. He was to open and close the Noga Hilton in Abuja several times. He also spent five marvellous years in Cairo. His next stop was Sri Lanka, off the Indian coast, then went to Yaoundé, followed by Hanoi, in Vietnam. Leaving his General Managers role with Hilton International for a more luxurious brand “Leading Hotels of the World,” initially assigned in Brussels and moved again forward to first Nairobi in Kenya, followed by Korea, Cyprus and Thailand. In Phuket he was introduced to the Dusit Thani Brand and was promoted to Managing Director Dusit Thani Egypt, where he opened the Dusit Thani Lakeview.[expander_maker id=”1″ more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]Prior to coming to Pakistan in 2013 for taking the responsibility at Marriott, he spent also a few years in Kuwait and Dubai rebranding Hotels and as Cluster General Manager.
