AZAM JAMIL

Azam has over 43 years of experience in Hospitality, Tourism, Management, Marketing, Operations, People’s Management and Training & Development. His academic journey includes prestigious institutions such as Aitchison College, Army Burn Hall College, University of Karachi and Cornell University (USA).
He has spent an illustrious career spread over three and a half decades in the hospitality industry in various positions. He is currently the Dean of Hashoo School of Hospitality Management. Prior to this, he held the positions of Corporate Director of Training & Development at Serena Hotels and Corporate Head of Sales & Marketing.
On moving to the United States in 1983, he became the first-ever Asian to be elected to the Board of Best Western Colorado, representing over 80 hotels and motels in the State. Prior to joining Hashoo Group and Serena Hotel, he held the following positions:

  • Director Marketing of Berger Paints – Responsible for all revenue areas of the company that included industrial offerings. In addition, he was also responsible for budgeting, planning and expansion projects.

  • Executive Director of Colony Sarhad Textile Mills and Suhail Jute Mills Ltd. – Responsible for trading, export of finished goods and import of a wide range of raw materials.
  • Director Sales / Assistant General Manager of InterContinental Hotels – Responsible for the overall management of the operations, planning & budgeting and Human Resources Management.

Azam has also been a professional sportsman and was Pakistan’s National Tennis Champion. He has represented Pakistan in tennis tournaments at home and abroad. He is also a qualified pilot, holds a Commercial Pilot’s License and has flown for Air Search & Rescue in Colorado, USA. Music is Azam’s passion; he has been playing for over four decades.
